Superb

The Bass X is one of St. Croix's more affordable options, but it still has the classic St. Croix performance that we've come to expect. This rod would make a great option if you're looking to get a more responsiveness out of your casting rod, as it is extremely light and offers the necessary sensitivity to feel any bite.

Estimated price: $110
  • Premium SCII carbon blank
  • Hard aluminum-oxide guides with black frames
  • Split grip with premium-grade cork
  • Fuji ECS reel seat with black hood

Slightly on the tip-heavy side, but nonetheless a rod that I can trust for all kinds of applications - never leaves the boat.

Bottom Line

The St. Croix Bass X is a casting rod which offers solid all-round performance and is a great rod to use when fishing heavy cover.

This is another very popular rod by St. Croix, and should definitely be considered if you're lurking in this price range. The Mojo Bass is slightly more expensive, but have a few more features which contribute to performance - have a look.
