Rod Sensitivity
Rod Durability

The new Shimano Curado baitcasting rod in our eyes has been a huge upgrade from the original release. The features they've introduced look to bring about a considerable reduction in weight, while increasing sensitivity and overall strength.

Estimated price: $159
  • Hybrid High Modulus UD Carbon with Nanoresin blanks, offering a class blend of sensitivity and strength
  • Fuji tangle free alconite guides, with SIC inserts
  • Premium cork split grip provides comfort and durability for all situations
  • SoftTouch Fuji reel seat aids sensitivity and comfort

Summarized feedback from Bass Anglers

Reasons to buy

  • Revamped version of the original Curado baitcasting rod series
  • A considerable reduction in weight without losing out on strength and backbone
  • Anglers have noticed a considerable upgrade with the new Curado
  • Features Fuji's tangle free guide train, along with FazLite rings. This provides added smoothness while reducing the overall weight of the rod
  • Wide variety of rod actions, including numerous lighter options that would be suitable for finesse applications
  • Heavier options available for power techniques!
  • Ci4+ reel seat has been installed. This has reduced the weight dramatically while adding sensitivity
  • Shimano have replaced the cork handle with EVA foam - with a focus on adding sensitivity
  • We love the new look of this rod!
  • Combines beautifully with the Curado K, or the Curado DC reels

Reasons not to buy

  • It's expensive. While well worth it for experienced anglers, less experienced anglers or those on a budget may want to consider something with a more modest price tag
  • Anglers have commended the upgrade, but some feel that this rod doesn't perform as well as the likes of the Zodias - another Shimano build

Sensitivity is up there with the poison adrena... I like the feel of this rod compared to the old Curado, it feels a lot lighter with a bit more responsiveness. Satisfied.

Bottom Line

We've seen a noticeable upgrade in the new Curado. The previous model was regarded as a heavier casting rod - something that Shimano clearly noted. The adding of the Ci4+ reel seat and new guide train has taken a fair amount of weight off this rod, without sacrificing the usual power and backbone.

A wide variety of actions and lengths means there's a new Curado for virtually any technique.
