Summarized feedback from Bass Anglers

Reasons to buy

  • Very comfortable, lightweight casting reel
  • Compact, palmable design
  • 6.9oz is very light for a casting reel, making those long hours on the water slightly easier
  • Solid casting with easily adjustable magnetic brakes
  • Capable of throwing lighter presentations such as weighted wacky rigs or marginally heavier shaky heads
  • 7.5:1 gear ratio is fast enough for flipping and pitching but is also a very versatile speed
  • A true workhorse for a budget-friendly reel
  • A max drag of 15lb will turn the head of any bass in deep cover
  • One of the best options out there in this price range
  • Some feel this reel performs as well as other, more expensive options

Reasons not to buy

  • This reel won't cast as far as other, higher priced reels
  • To some extent you can feel that this is a budget reel. Feels somewhat "plastic"

Works great for the price, probably the best for the price. Drag clicks and is strong. Handles are amazing. Little slipping but not much. Feels great in the hand. Despite this, spool tension knob takes a great amount of effort to adjust and side plate tends to slowly loosen itself over time, even when properly put back into place, which can make your adjustments worthless as the magnets slowly drift further away.

the CC80 is a budget reel, and yes, to some extent you can feel that why using it. However, it casts seriously well and overall, performs well above its price point. Doesn't seem to be as durable as other budget reels like the Shimano SLX but honestly, at $60 odd I still think the CC80 is fantastic value for money.

Very good value for money. Its a very solid all-round reel and is definitely one of the best out there in this price range.

Bottom Line

The CC80 is an affordable casting reel that provides anglers with solid performance all-round. For sure, it's not going to cast the furthest, or have the smoothest drag, but it's going to provide you with the necessities to have a good day out on the water and all at a brilliant price.

You may want to consider a reel such as the Tatula CT if you're looking for something slightly more premium.
